§ 2-197. Structure; appointment procedures; vacancies.

This commission shall consist of five members who are registered electors of this city and shall be appointed by the mayor and subject to confirmation by the city council. The terms of office shall be five years except for the initial appointment of members which shall require staggered terms of one, two, three, four, and five years. Thereafter, members shall be appointed before October 1 of the year of appointment. Vacancies on the board shall be filled immediately by appointment of the mayor and confirmation of the city council. No city employees or members of their immediate family or any individual serving in a governmental office shall be eligible for appointment.
